What Lee-Ann shoots as a Cape Town photographer

Lee-Ann's work: a few moments and how she made them
Every photograph below is hers. Each one shows a different kind of session, and the choice that made it work.

Doubled in still water
Lee-Ann worked from the far side of the pond, so the water does half the composition: the couple, the black vintage car and the canopy of trees repeat upside down beneath them, with a raft of lily pads breaking the line. Soft, even light holds detail in the white gown against the dark car.

Eight in the dune grass
Eight people, two rows and not one hidden face. The group is built from the sand up, some seated in front and some standing behind, everyone close enough to touch. Low sun from the side warms the skin and catches the seed heads of the grass.

Tulle and a backward glance
Two settings, one occasion. Blush tulle ruffles spill out of an open car door and fill the bottom of the frame; then a grey-blue gown in an atrium of metal seahorse sculptures, where a blurred sculpture in the foreground adds depth to a look over the shoulder.

A story before the story
No face needed. A copy of Guess How Much I Love You rests against a navy dress, and the green background falls away into softness, so the title and the curve of the bump carry the whole frame.

At home with her books
Seated on the floor in a chunky cream cardigan, chin on hand, she meets the lens with a half smile. Soft, even indoor light and a muted blue wall keep the palette cool and calm, while the stack of books beside her says something about who she is without a word of copy.

- Send your date and shoot type. Use the form: date, area or venue, and what you want photographed. A rough idea of hours or the number of people helps.
- Get Lee-Ann's availability and a written quote. The quote should state the hours of coverage, how many edited images you receive, the delivery time and any travel or location fee.
- Secure the date. A deposit usually reserves the date. Popular spring and summer Saturdays and matric dance weekends go first.
